Miriam Shook is an Instructional Technology Specialist at Colham Ferry Elementary School in Watkinsville, GA, and has experience as a first and second-grade classroom teacher. She loves her role as she encourages love of reading to her students while showing them how the world of literature connects to everything they do. She also enjoys connecting STEM and technology to make literature come to life. She has been named Teacher of the Year for Colham Ferry Elementary School (2019-20), Oglethorpe County Primary School (2014-15), and Oglethorpe County School District (2014-15).
Outside of the classroom, Mrs. Shook serves an educator member of the Georgia Behavioral Health and Innovation Reform Commission. She served on the State Social Studies Standards Revision Committee with the Georgia Department of Education and created materials to support the elementary school social studies standards. Mrs. Shook holds an Associate’s degree from Young Harris College, a Bachelor's degree from LaGrange College, a Master's of Education in Children's Literature and Language Arts from the University of Georgia, and a Specialist in Instructional Technology/Library Media from Valdosta State University.
Miriam and her husband Kirk live in Bogart with their two dogs, Lucy and Libby.
